Carmen J. “Carm” Rutolo, 82, of Brunswick, beloved husband of Margaret ‘Maggie” Austin  Rutolo of Brunswick, peacefully entered into eternal life surrounded by his family on Wednesday, January 3, 2018.

Born and educated in Rensselaer, he was the son of the late Joseph and Rose Benedetto Rutolo. He was a U.S. Army veteran and was a Sergeant upon his Honorable Discharge in 1962.

Carm had been employed by Zappala Block in Rensselaer as a truck driver. He had been Chief of Police for the Town of Poestenkill from 1972-1986 and was a Lifetime Member of the Rensselaer County Law Enforcement Association.

Carm was a communicant of Our Lady of Victory Church in Troy and was a Life Member of the Knights of Columbus.

Carm is the beloved husband of Margaret “Maggie” Austin Galligan Rutolo of Brunswick, devoted father of Susan (John) Mamone of Wynantskill and Diane (Kevin) Moran of Watervliet, who were predeceased by their mother Doris E. Mallory Rutolo, brother of Concetta "Connie” (late Joe) Gisoti of Albany, the late Frances "Fran" (late, John) Bylo and the late Virginia Mancini, cherished grandfather of Gabrielle and Amelia Mamone, step-grandfather of Jaime Hankle and Skylar Austin, also survived by many nieces and nephews. Carm was also predeceased by his stepchildren; Judith St. George and James Austin and a niece, Joanne Hennessy.

Funeral will be held on Monday at 8:45 a.m. from the Morris-Stebbins-Miner & Sanvidge Funeral Home, 312 Hoosick St. in Troy, thence to Our Lady of Victory Church, 55 N. Lake Ave (at the corner of Marshland Ct.) in Troy, where at 9:30 a.m. the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday from  2:00 to 5:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

Interment with military honors will be held in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Rensselaer.

Memorial contributions can be made to Our Lady of Victory Church, 55 North Lake Avenue, Troy, NY 12180, in memory of Carm.
