Obituary of Carmel M. Sfara
Carmel M. “Carm” Sfara, of Troy and formerly a longtime resident of Lansingburgh, entered into eternal life on Friday, March 21, 2025 at the Samaritan Hospital in Troy.
Born in Troy, New York, she was the daughter of the late Joseph V. and Philomena Pettignelli Sfara and was a graduate of Troy High School and attended Russell Sage College, Evening Division in Troy.
Miss. Sfara was a Secretary for 32 years at Albany Steel, Inc. in Menands from where she had retired and had also been previously employed as a Secretary at Hedley Cadillac-Buick-Oldsmobile in Troy.
Carm was dedicated to volunteering with various institutions and organizations which included The Sunnyside Center of Troy, St. Mary’s Woodland Village, The Eddy Heritage House, The Roarke Center and the Troy Senior Citizens.
Carm was a member of the Lansingburgh Historical Society, Troy Senior Citizens, Troy Arts Guild and had a special interest in watercolor painting and participated in the centers painting classes and had some of her works selected to be exhibited in various local arts shows. She was a faithful communicant of St. Augustine’s Church in Lansingburgh.
There are no immediate family members surviving.
Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Augustine’s Church, 25-115th Street in Lansingburgh (Troy, NY 12182) on Wednesday, March 26, 2025 at 9:30 a.m. followed by interment in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Troy.
In keeping with Carm's wishes, there are no calling hours.
