Obituary of Joyce D. Wood

Joyce Doran Wood, 81, of Albany, beloved wife of the late Richard T. Wood, peacefully entered into eternal life surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, April 12, 2025 at the Samaritan Hospital in Troy.

Born in Albany, she was the daughter of the late Patrick John and Henrietta Sophie Smith Doran and was a graduate of Phillip Schuyler High School.

Mrs. Wood had been employed by the NYS Department of Taxation and Finance and Blue Cross/Blue Shield Insurance both in Albany for many years until she became a dedicated homemaker. She loved baking “Ice Box Cake” and was of the Roman Catholic faith.

Devoted mother of Thomas (Andrea) Wood of Troy and Deborah (Frank) Forte of Selkirk, cherished grandmother of Kasey Eagan, Dylan (Taulie Frierson) Wood, Frank Forte and Karissa Joy Forte, adored great grandmother of Matthew Lobdell and Alexis Lobdell, sister of the late John (late, June) Doran and the late Patrick (late, Marion) Doran, also survived by her special sister Katherine “KeKe” (late, John) Kolach and several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to Calling Hours on Wednesday, April 16, 2025 from 4 to 7 p.m. and to the Funeral Service that evening at 7:00 p.m. at the Morris-Stebbins-Miner & Sanvidge Funeral Home, 312 Hoosick Street, Troy, NY 12180.

Burial will be held on Thursday morning at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady Help of Christians Cemetery, 41 Jolley Rd., Glenmont, NY 12077.
