SEAN F. DEWEY

Sean Francis Dewey, 64, of Ticonderoga, NY and formerly of Clifton Park, NY, passed away unexpectedly in Florida on July 25, 2025.

Sean was born in Albany, NY to John and Eleanor Murphy Dewey and was a graduate of Saratoga Central Catholic School and SUNY New Paltz College where he earned his BS in Environmental Science.

He then served as a Military Policeman in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1980 to 1984 and in the USMC Reserves until 1986.  He continued his Military career in the Army National Guard, serving as Medic and a band member until he retired.

Strongly dedicated to his family, Sean loved family get-togethers and was a most proud father, grandfather, son, brother, friend, uncle, and teacher/mentor. An avid environmentalist, Sean had a passion for nature and the outdoors, and was also proud of his Irish heritage. He loved the Adirondacks, so much so, as to make his home there.

Sean’s law enforcement career spanned 23 years with the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation serving as a Police Officer.

In addition to his mother; Eleanor, Sean is survived by his three loving sons; Vincent Ruggeri, Daniel (Jillian) Dewey and Brian Dewey, their mothers; Susann Dewey Tadjbakhsh and Mary Offenburg, dear siblings; Noreen Dewey, Brian Dewey, Kevin (Jessica) Dewey and Tara (Riad) Dewey, grandchildren; Brandon Glenn, Vincent Ruggeri Jr., Jonathan Ruggeri, and Troy Dewey.  Special friends include Christine Nelson, Joe Martino, Mike Daignault, Larry Didinato and Kim Kaye, also survived by several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and grandchildren.

Sean was predeceased by his father John Dewey, brothers; Brendan Dewey, George (wife Dawn survives) Dewey and Robert (wife Claire survives) Dewey.

Public Calling Hours will be held on Saturday, August 2, 2025 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. followed by a Celebration of Sean’s Life with Reflections at 3:00 p.m. at the Gordon C.
