Obituary of Laura E. Murray
Laura E. Sousis Murray, “Aunt Laura”, 85, of Troy, peacefully entered into eternal life surrounded by her family on Thursday, September 25, 2025 at Samaritan Hospital in Troy.
Born in Keeseville, New York, she was the daughter of the late Edgar Sousis and Delia (Pansy) LaMare Sousis.
Laura cherished her role as a mother, grandmother, and homemaker. She enjoyed taking long road trips to admire the beautiful scenery, especially on her way to the nearest casino. She loved bringing her grandchildren on drives to see Christmas lights. You could always find her playing cards and board games, watching horror movies, and sharing ghost stories. Fiercely independent, Laura would do anything to provide for her family. She was honest, upfront, and never held anything back—qualities that endeared her to everyone who knew her.
She was the beloved mother of Gary Carbonneau, Brian (Rhonda) Carbonneau, Linda Murray, and Laurie Murray; and the devoted mother-in-law of Denice Carbonneau. She was a cherished grandmother to Colleen McCagg, Kyrstal Carbonneau, Gary (Ashley) Carbonneau III, Laura Carbonneau, Trish (James) Roddy, Amber Carbonneau, Rachel Roddy, Kentris Carbonneau, Peyton Carbonneau, and Annabelle Carbonneau. Laura was also the adored great-grandmother of 30 great-grandchildren. Coming from a family of 23 children, Laura is survived by her siblings Edgar (Peanut) Sousis Jr., Brenda Brown, Larry Sousis, Theresa Lauzon, John Sousis, and Linda Lown. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and their families.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the John J. Sanvidge Funeral Home, Inc., 565 Fourth Avenue (at the corner of 115th Street in Lansingburgh) Troy, NY 12182 on Wednesday, October 8, 2025 from 4 to 6 p.m. and to the Funeral Service which will begin that afternoon at 5:30 p.m.
