Obituary of Patrick T. Morrissey

Please share a memory of Patrick to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Clifton Park – Patrick T. Morrissey, 60, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on Sunday, October 12, 2025.

Patrick aka Patio or Uncle P to many was born August 19, 1965, son of the late Bruce and Patricia (Hannagan) Morrissey. Patrick attended Hadley-Luzerne schools before graduating from Heatly High School in Green Island. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance and Management from UAlbany.

Patrick began his 28-year state service career working for the Governor’s Office of Regulatory Reform in 1997, before joining the Division of Budget in 1999 and was promoted to Team Leader in the unit in 2006 — a position he held until 2012. Most recently, Patrick served as the Director of Finance at the NYS Office of Information Technology Services.

Patrick was the beloved husband to Sheila (Maloney) Morrissey, the love of his life for 31 years. Devoted father to triplet sons Tyler, Michael and the late Zachary. Son-in-law to Sally Maloney and late James, brother-in-law to the late Kellie (Matt) Elmer, James (Kim) Maloney and Kate Maloney, who was more of a sister than sister-in-law, and his sister Barbara. Treasured uncle to nieces and nephews, Connor, Hannah, Patrick, Trevor, Emma, Brayden, Griffin, Marcel, Alyssa and Davon. Patrick is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, great friends, colleagues and his dog, Jackson.

Patrick grew up in Troy and Lake Luzerne where he played baseball and wrestled. He loved spending time with family, especially the holidays and cooking for everyone. He worked in the catering business for many years at Michael’s Catering where he perfected his cooking skills. He volunteered and coached his boys’ baseball, basketball and football teams in the Clifton Park community and was especially fond of his time coaching his nephew, Davon, in CYO basketball and the Albany City Rocks. He was an avid Siena Basketball fan and loved to watch the games with his sons, nephew and mother-in-law. Patrick was also a diehard Yankees, Giants and Knicks fan, and enjoyed keeping up with the pro tennis tour.

His pride and joy was watching his sons participate in sports. He loved watching his son Tyler run marathons and watching his son Michael coach baseball. Recently, his passion has been following his nephew as Davon pursues his basketball career and meeting the many coaches, families and friends along the way. While taken way too soon, Pat has touched the lives of so many and his presence will be dearly missed.
