Obituary of Beverly J. "Penny" Santagato

Beverly J. “Penny” Santagato, 83, of Halfmoon, entered into eternal life at home on Monday, November 24, 2025.

Born in Albany, NY, she was the daughter of the late Victor Gush and Carmela J. Gush, and was a graduate of Columbia High School.

Penny was most recently employed with New York Long Term Care Brokers in Halfmoon. Prior to that, she spent many years with Travelers Insurance, where she built a long and dedicated career.

She loved so many things in life: attending Elvis Weekend in Lake George every year, exploring the wineries of Skaneateles and the Finger Lakes, making trips to the Warrensburg World’s Largest Garage Sale, and spending time with friends at the Rusty Nail, The Mill and Bentley’s Tavern. She was an avid New York Yankees fan and enjoyed visiting Turning Stone, Rivers Casino, and the Saratoga Racino whenever she could.

She is survived by her son, Joseph W. Santagato; her granddaughters, Jordan (Drew) Kane and Alisha Santagato; and her daughter-in-law, Shannon Santagato. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews, as well as her dear friends, Philomena and Donna. Penny was predeceased by her daughter, Monique Marie Santagato; her father, Anthony Santagato; her sister, Barbara Lewis; her brother, Victor Gush; her companion, George Foertsch; and her close friend, Pam.

Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, December 2, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at the Gordon C. Emerick Funeral Home, 1550 RT-9, Clifton Park, NY 12065. 

Calling hours will take place that morning from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home.

Interment will be held in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Waterford.
