Obituary of Betty Cook

Betty A. Jones Cook, 70, of Berlin and formerly of Lansingburgh, beloved wife for 43 years to “John” Arnold J. Cook, peacefully entered into eternal life surrounded by her family on Wednesday, January 14, 2026 at Albany Medical Center Hospital in Albany.

Born in Troy, NY, she was the daughter of the late Edgar H. “Duke” and Shirley J. Mattison Jones, Sr. and was a graduate of Lansingburgh High School.

Mrs. Cook was a homemaker dedicating herself to her family who she loved above and beyond.

Betty loved her reality television shows, reading and most of all her family. She also enjoyed  being in a bowling league in her younger days, weekend shopping trips before becoming ill, and long car rides which she still found enjoyment in during her last days.

She was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Lansingburgh.

Beloved wife to John, devoted mother to Lisa (Ryan) Sams, cherished “Nonna” to Dominic Sams, sister of Edgar H. “Butch” (Lisa) Jones, Jr., also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to Calling Hours on Wednesday, January 21, 2026 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the John J. Sanvidge Funeral Home, Inc., 565 Fourth Avenue (at the corner of 115^th Street in Lansingburgh) Troy, NY 12182 and to the Funeral Service which will be held there on Thursday at 1:00 p.m..

Interment will be held in Oakwood Cemetery, Troy.

Betty’s family would like to express their most sincere appreciation to the Nurses at Samaritan Hospital 4^th Floor Pavilion that provided wonderful care and support to her and her family.
