Ronald J. "Ronnie" Bump Obituary
Ronald J. “Ronnie” Bump, 81, of Averill Park and formerly a longtime resident of South Troy, peacefully entered into eternal life on Saturday, February 7, 2026 at his residence.
Born in Troy, he was the son of the late Harley E. and Norma M. O’Brien Bump and was a graduate of Troy High School. He served in the U.S. Army in the Vietnam War from 1965 to 1967 as an SP4 and was awarded the Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Marksmanship Medal (Rifle), two Overseas Service Bars and his Honorable Discharge. He also served in the New York Army National Guard from 1981 to 2004 when he retired from his service to our nation. Ronnie also received the following: Army Achievement medal, NY State Aid to Civil Authority Medal, Medal for Humane Service to NY State and NY State Defense of Liberty Medal.
Ronnie retired from Rensselaer County Department of Social Services where he was a Clerk. He had also previously been employed at Chez Paul Hair Salon and Stewarts.
“Uncle Ronnie” as he was affectionately known to his relatives and their friends enjoyed sunbathing, his daily gossip, his daily 62-mile car drives known as his galivanting, and he especially loved his Bella Grace. He loved the New England Patriots and the Boston Red Sox, as well as being an avid Trump supporter.
He had been a member of Sullivan Jones VFW Post 7466 where he spent his Friday nights with his nearest and dearest friend Roxanne O’Brien and Sunday mornings making waffles.
In addition to his parents, Ronnie was also predeceased by his dear and loving sister, Karen L. Julian with whom he had a special bond.
Ronnie is survived by his brother Wayne (Mary) Bump, his loving nieces and nephews Keith Spiak, Kellie (Carl) Campbell-Bacchus, Laurie (Albert) Palmer, L. Christopher (Donna) Julian, Casey Mancinelli and Weston Julian, Jason (Casey) Bump, Michael (Allison) Bump, Carly (Nick) Rogers and his dearest great-niece Carey (Brian) Moulton and several other great/great-grand nieces and nephews. Lastly, his cherished great grand-nieces Isabella Moulton as well as Kendra Julian. He is also survived by many friends which he made over the years.
In keeping with Ronnie’s wishes, there will not be any public services.
Private funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the John J. Sanvidge Funeral Home, Inc., 565 Fourth avenue (at the corner of 115th Street in Lansingburgh) Troy, NY 12182.
