Obituary of Robert K. Sanders
Robert K. “Bob” Sanders, 66, of Duanesburg, formerly of the City of Schenectady, passed away unexpectedly at home on Monday, March 23, 2026.
Born in Syracuse, NY, he was the son of the late Robert R. and Audrey (Purcell) Sanders. As a child Bob was an accomplished runner; winning many races and awards, and earning himself a scholarship to Notre Dame – Bishop Gibbons High School in Schenectady, where he graduated in 1979. Bob would later go on to obtain his associate’s degree from Mildred Elley in Albany.
Bob retired from the Schenectady County Office of the Public Defender in 2019 where he had been a Paralegal. Always on the go, retirement did not stop Bob’s strong desire to work and contribute. He most recently spent his days working as a Self Direction Support Worker.
Bob loved politics, cooking, big family dinners, and a good cigar with friends. Bob was an avid fan of the Chicago Bears and New York Yankees. He loved attending games with family and friends. Bob also enjoyed the outdoors, sitting in the sunshine and had a love for animals, but above everything else he loved his daughters and grandchildren most.
Devoted father of Kathreen “Krissy” (Patrick) McBride, Katrina (Daniel) Ramirez-Lansley and Gianna Burroughs, brother of James (Helen) Sanders, John Sanders and Susan Sanders, cherished grandfather of Payton Latal, Savannah Latray and Finnian McBride, loving uncle and godfather to Rylee Sanders. Bob is also survived by his former wife, Lisa Croteau, with whom he maintained a close friendship, his dear lifetime friend, Anthony Valentine, and many beloved cousins.
Relatives and friends are invited to St. Edward the Confessor Church, 569 Clifton Park Center Road, Clifton Park, NY 12065 for Calling Hours in the Chapel on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. The Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will immediately follow in the Church.
Spring Interment will be held privately at the convenience of the family in Grove Cemetery, Delanson.
