David D. Turner Obituary

David DeMarquis Turner, 63, of Ballston Lake, New York, peacefully entered into eternal life with his loving family beside him on Monday, June 15, 2026 at the Stratton VA Medical Center in Albany, NY.


David was born in Fitchburg, MA and is the son of Katrina Klem Turner and the late David L. Turner. He was a graduate of Acton-Boxboro High School in Acton, MA and Eastern Carolina University where he earned his Associates Degree.


He was a decorated veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps having served from 1980 to 1984. His decorations included the M-16 Expert Badge, a Letter of Appreciation for his achievements and service, Good Conduct Medal and his Honorable Discharge.


David held the position of General Manager, Superintendent  and Golf Pro for the Pioneer Hill Golf Course in Ballston Spa, NY.  He was also very proud to be a member of the PGA. His greatest joy was to be a proud Ukrainian.


David had many different hobbies and talents, including golfing, snowmobiling, motorcycling, fast cars, and skiing. Above all, David loved working at the golf course, teaching golf, and working with his team. 


David loved his many dogs over the years including Skip, Emerson, Palmer and Lake.  And most of all he loved family.


In addition to his mother Katrina, David is also survived by his loving sisters; Katerina “Katia” (Newell) White, Krista “Kweit” (Arthur) Schultz and Jennifer “Jenn” (Phillip) Scott, nieces and nephews; Jenna (Wesley) Carter, Nicholas White, Koby Scott, and Brooke White; great nephew Tripp Carter and great niece Lavinia Carter, companion Roseanne Gallagher-Pappas, and also survived by many cousins and their families.


Relatives and friends are invited to the John J. Sanvidge Funeral Home, Inc., 565 Fourth Avenue (at the corner of 115th Street in Lansingburgh) Troy, NY 12182 on Friday, July 17, 2026 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. for the Visitation where at 12:00 p.m. Reflections will be offered.


Interment with military honors will be held on Saturday morning, July 18, 2026 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery, 88 Elm Avenue, Watervliet, NY 12189. You are welcome to join us at the cemetery if you wish.


Flowers are encouraged and will be accepted at the funeral home. David would have loved for any memorial contributions to be made, to the Fisher House 113 Holland Avenue, Albany, NY 12208, in memory of David D. Turner. The Fisher House provides a free home away from home for families and caregivers of military personnel and veterans receiving treatment at major military and Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Medical Centers.
