Mellesey "Betsy" Schneider, 91, peacefully entered into eternal life on Saturday, January 7, 2017, at her residence surrounded by her loving children and their families. Born and educated in Van Buren, Maine, she was the daughter of the late Jean and Marie Thibodeau Parent and the beloved wife of nearly 58 years of Robert J. "Bob" Schneider, who passed away on January 29, 2013. Mrs. Schneider was a homemaker raising six children with her husband Bob. Forever the matriarch of the family, she loved hosting all of the holiday and weekly gatherings at the Schneider home until eventually the home wasn't large enough to accommodate everyone or the children began to want to allow for their mom to have less responsibility of providing for everyone. She was also very proud and loved assisting all of her children with child care and helping them to raise all of her grandchildren who affectionately loved to call her "Meme". She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother to her husband, children and grandchildren. She loved to walk the golf course with her husband and most of all, loved spending time with her entire family. Betsy was a communicant of Our Lady of Victory Church in Sycaway and had been an Elections Inspector for the Town of Brunswick. Devoted mother of Robert D. (Mary Pierce) Schneider of Clifton Park, Michael J. (Kimberley Mollnow) Schneider of Wynantskill, Gregory A. (Alison Welch) Schneider of Green Island, Joan (Art) Nauman of Guilderland, Susan (Brian) Dunson of Brunswick and Theresa (Al) Pollock of Speigletown, cherished “Meme” of Dr. Suzanne (Matt) Schaefer, Dr. Amy Schneider, Shannon (Jason) Ostwald, Derek (fiancé Rachel Sawicki) Schneider, Makenzie, Britany and Hunter Nauman, Matthew and Brianna Dunson and Teagan and Dylan Pollock, adored “Great Meme” of Griffin and Carter Ostwald, sister of Theresa Wright of South Carolina, also survived by many nieces and nephews. Funeral will be held on Tuesday morning at 8:45 a.m. from the Morris-Stebbins-Miner & Sanvidge Funeral Home, 312 Hoosick Street, Troy, NY 12180 thence to Our Lady of Victory Church 55 North Lake Avenue (at the corner of Marshland Ct.), Troy, NY 12180, where at 9:30 a.m. the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Betsy's nephew and Godson, Father Philip E. Parent, SM. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home on Monday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Interment will be held in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Troy. Those desiring, may make memorial contributions to Our Lady of Victory Church (address above) or to the Marist Society of Fathers and Brothers, (Attn: Donations), 4408 8th Street NE, Washington, DC 20017, in memory of Mellesey "Betsy" Schneider. Her family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to St. Peter's Palliative Care, particularly to Dr. Kim Gendron and Nurses Tiffany and Cindy for their loving care.
