Obituary of Anna Madeline Devine
Anna Madeline Devine, 99, peacefully entered into eternal life on Saturday, January 9, 2021 at the Wesley Community.
Born in Green Island, New York, she was the daughter of the late Gardner and Sara Leonard Ruggles and was a graduate of Heatly High School and the beloved wife of the late John Joseph Devine, Sr. who passed away in 2002. Anna was a resident of Round Lake for over 50 years.
Mrs. Devine had been employed at Cohoes Manufacturing in Cohoes and had previously been employed at the Watervliet Arsenal in the payroll department during World War II.
Anna especially loved the time spent with her family. This love only grew during the Christmas season, as she enjoyed holiday traditions with her loved ones. This love extended to many children that she cared for during her time in Round Lake.
Anna was a founding member and communicant of Corpus Christi Church in Ushers and a member of the Women’s Club. Anna was also a member of the WRLIS (Women’s Round Lake Improvement Society), the Round Lake Bowling League and a loyal Saratoga County Board of Elections Poll Watcher.
Devoted mother of John J. Devine, Jr. (JoAnne Lanne and the late Patricia Devine), and the late Colleen Abeel, cherished “Nana” of Tammy (Ann) Devine, Beth (Mike) Minervini, Erin (Bill) Grogan, Meghan (John) Kephart, John (Melissa) Devine, Kate (Matt) Wilson, adored great grandmother “Nana” of Samuel, Michael, Brandon, Matthew, Justin, Abigail, Allison, Isaiah, Maxwell, Madison, Elijah, Natalie, John, Glory and Isabelle, also survived by 2 nieces and several nephews. She was predeceaed by her brothers, John, Lawrence and Arthur William Ruggles.
Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, January 15, 2021 at 9:00 a.m. at Corpus Christi Church, (Ushers Road and US-9) 2001 RT-9, Round Lake, NY 12151 and will be live streamed at https://www.facebook.com/corpuschristichurchny
Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the Gordon C. Emerick Funeral home, 1550 RT-9m, Clifton Park, New York 12065 on Thursday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Facial coverings, social distancing and adherence to capacity limitations must be observed.
Spring interment will be held in Dunning Street Cemetery, Malta.
Anna’s family would like to thank the staff at the Wesley Community, especially Beth Mannarino and everyone on 2-Springs as well as to Anna’s team at Community Hospice of Saratoga for their loving care and compassion provided to her.
