Bonnie M. Catone, 69, of 28 State Street, Valley Falls, passed away peacefully on Friday May 28, 2021 at her residence with her husband by her side.  She was born on August 11, 1951 in Mechanicsburg, PA and was the daughter of the late Andrew and Aileen Tighe McLellan.  Bonnie was a graduate of Mechanicsburg High School and the University of Texas at Arlington with a degree in Political Science.  She was a US Airforce veteran, having served honorably from 1971-1975.  She retired as a Director of Communications for the Treatment Research Institute in Philadelphia, PA, working in Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation.

 

Bonnie previously worked in Legislative Affairs for Congressman Martin Frost in Washington D.C. She also served in the Office of Governmental Affairs for the Department of Environmental Conservation in Albany, NY. A long-time believer in public service, she was a dedicated member of the Hoosic Valley School Board for 10 years and past President of the Board of Directors for the Center for Community Alternatives, an advocacy group for alternatives to incarceration. Bonnie devoted tremendous time, energy and especially patience to raising her three children. She was an avid follower of politics and current events, and in her younger years enjoyed skiing.

 

Bonnie is the beloved wife of Louis J. Catone, Esq.; devoted mother of Louis J. (Sheila) Catone of Somerville, MA, Amanda A. Catone, New York, NY and Andrew S. Catone of Brunswick, NY; dear sister of Thomas (Kerry) McLellan of Sarasota, FL and the late Bruce McLellan of Keene, NH; cherished grandmother of Cameron G. Catone of Somerville, MA.

 

Funeral services will be private on Thursday for the family from the White-Sanvidge Funeral Home, 58 Leversee Road Speigletown, NY 12182. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to The CurePSP Foundation.
