Kathy Hartley posted a condolence

To Joan and Family,
My sincere condolences on your great loss. Bob was one of the first people I met when I went to work for GE Silicones. He welcomed me into the QC organization and helped show me the ropes. Everybody liked Bob. He was deeply respected with his knowledge and he had a difficult job to do. But he did it with aplomb and a gentle sense of humor. He was a gentleman to the core.
In the 1980's he was into stained glass. My late husband and I were constantly working on our 1890's Victorian home, and when we got to the kitchen we commissioned Bob to make a lampshade. We gave him a piece of wallpaper and he made a beautiful hanging lampshade which he unthinkingly brought to me at work in a horrific snowstorm. That it got from his home to work to my home unscathed is a minor miracle! Although I no longer live in that house, the lampshade moved with us and it's one of my most treasured possessions.
I don't know what to say to make the pain go away. Just know I'm thinking of you and remembering Bob fondly.
