Obituary of Rod K. Choppy

Please share a memory of Rod to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Rod K. Choppy, 62, of Watervliet, jammed on his guitar to eternal life peacefully on Monday, November 8, 2021.

Born in Los Angeles, CA, he was the son of the late Angelo and Eleanor Coons Choppy and was a graduate of Heatly High School in Green Island.

Rod had been the owner and operator of RockChild Electroworks, LLC in Green Island.

He loved playing the guitar almost as much as he loved Alexandria, who was his pride and joy.

Rod was an accomplished guitarist having played with the Chaser Band, Urban Gumbo, Rant N’ Rave, Switch Band and many more; he also enjoyed reading and sports, specifically baseball.

Rod is survived by one beloved daughter; Alexandria M. “Alex” Choppy, his loving sisters; Marie Beals, Gloria Choppy-Grattan and Tamara “Tammy” Choppy. He was predeceased by his brother Lance Choppy.

The Choppy family will be planning a Memorial Concert in Celebration of Rod’s Life which will be announced at sanvidgefunerralhome.com at a later date.

Rod’s family wishes to express their most sincere appreciation to his best friends: Dawn and Jimmy Lazzaro and Chris Busone. Special thanks to Judi Morrissey, Allison Mahar, Samaritan Hospital Progressive Care Unit, and to all from Community Hospice for their unwavering support, guidance, prayers and love.

Those desiring, may make memorial contributions to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, in memory of Rod K. Choppy.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted by the family to the John J. Sanvidge Funeral Home, Inc., 565 Fourth Avenue (corner of 115th Street in Lansingburgh) Troy, New York 12182.
