Obituary of Mary Ann Barker Schmeelke

Mary Ann Barker Schmeelke, 78, of Clifton Park and formerly of Rexford, unexpectedly passed away on  December 24, 2021, due to complications from Covid-19.

Born in Schenectady, she was the daughter of the late Frank, Sr. and Dorothy Oldorff Barker and the beloved wife of the late Heinz W. Schmeelke who passed away on February 26, 2001. She was a graduate of Niskayuna High School and attended Hudson Valley Community College in Troy.

Mary loved creative writing, cooking, was an animal lover, avid gardener and enjoyed crafts.

She was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother, an Avon Lady, cleaned homes in her neighborhood and served as a dedicated caregiver until the passing of her neighbor for who she cared.

Devoted mother of Christopher W. Schmeelke, Scott Schmeelke and Dolly (Eric) Mohr, cherished grandmother of Lia Grace Mohr, sister of Dorothy Kettner of Rexford and the late Frank Jr. and the late Thomas Barker, also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, January 5, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 Noon at the Gordon C. Emerick Funeral Home, 1550 RT-9, Clifton Park, New York 12065 with burial to follow at Evergreen Memorial Park in Schenectady.
