Obituary of Dorothy Joyce Pitman
Dorothy Joyce Pitman, 84, of Pleasantdale, went home to be with the Lord on December 29th. She was the daughter of the late Dudley R. and Beatrice Pitman. Dorothy graduated from the Lansingburgh Schools and worked for Civil Service, retiring after 35 years.
She was a lifelong member of Pleasantdale Community Church where she served as a Sunday school leader and teacher, sang as a soloist in the choir, as she loved to sing. She enjoyed gardening, all sorts of crafts, and loved her cats!
She is survived by her sister, Ruth E. Horton (Terry); was Aunt to Keith, Kara and Kasie Horton; and had several grand nieces and nephews.
Friends are invited to call at the John J. Sanvidge Funeral Home, Inc., 565 Fourth Avenue (Corner of 115th Street, Lansingburgh), Troy, NY 12182 on Tuesday evening, January 4th, from 6 to 8 PM.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday morning, January 5th, at 10:00 AM at the Pleasantdale Community Church, 155 New Turnpike Rd., Troy, NY 12182 with the Rev. Tyrone Lynch, Pastor, officiating. The interment will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery, 983 Watervliet Shaker Rd., Albany, NY 12205.
NYS Mandate requires all visitors to wear masks in the funeral home and in the Church.
