Roy E. "Freedom", "Kayle" Hankins, 51, of Third Avenue in Lansingburgh, beloved husband of Salena M. Major Hankins went to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 26, 2017. Born in Halifax, VA, he was the son of Ralph Harris and the late Sally Ferrell and was a graduate of Albany High School and attended St. John's University. Mr. Hankins has been employed at IHOP in Schenectady. He enjoyed basketball, the New York Knicks and Giants and watching golf. Beloved husband of Salena, devoted father of Kihra, Kamilla and Kadeem Hankins, Kasia Jackson and the late Keynon Hankins, who are survived by their mother Wanda Turner, also the devoted father of Acharu Major, brother of Annie Hankins, Patricia Williams, Sharon Ferrell and the late George Hankins, Jr., cherished grandfather of Jaquare Jones, Mai'Everi Moses, Demitris Moses, Ahvere Hammonds, Phaybien Dillion, Satour Burns, Ke'Zhi Hankins and Ja-harie Maddox, also survived by a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, relatives and friends. Visitation will be held for relatives and friends on Friday from 11:00 a.m. to Noon at the John J. Sanvidge Funeral Home, Inc., 565 Fourth Avenue (Corner of 115th Street in Lansingburgh) Troy, NY 12182 which will be followed by a service at Noon.
