Dateline: Clifton Park, New York

Michael J. “Mike” Hopko, 61, of Clifton Park passed away suddenly on August 22 while playing golf.  Mike was born in Cohoes, NY on April 12, 1961 and was the son of Lorraine Turcotte Hopko of Troy and the late John Hopko.  He was a graduate of Troy High School and SUNY Plattsburgh with his bachelor’s in computer science.    He was the beloved husband of Anne W. Smith Hopko whom he married on April 26, 1996.  He retired from the NYS Dept. of Information for Technology in Albany after more than 30 years of dedicated service.  Mike enjoyed watching and playing the game of golf, he was a member of a league at Eagle Crest Golf Course in Clifton Park.  An avid NY Mets and TV fan, Mike also enjoyed hiking.  But most important to him was the time spent with his family and his canine companion Lucy.

In addition to his beloved wife Anne, he is the devoted father of Emily K. Hopko and Juliana Elise Hopko both of Clifton Park; dear brother of Cindy Hopko (Bern Selkis), Cathy Gray (Dave) both of E. Greenbush and Nancy Sams (Doug) of Burke, VA; also survived by several nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
