Obituary of Sharon Lee (Hornick) Schroeder

Please share a memory of Sharon to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Sharon Lee (Hornick) Schroeder, 73, of Cohoes NY, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 10, 2022 in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Troy NY on November 25, 1949, Sharon was the daughter of the late Ilene Mae (Horton) Hornick and the late Albert Michael Hornick. For 46 years, she was the beloved wife of the late Frank Schroeder, who passed away on July 5, 2022.

Sharon was a graduate of Lansingburgh High School and spent the majority of her life living in Troy before moving to Cohoes in 2008.

Sharon previously worked as a Purchasing Agent at Leonard Hospital in Troy and a Buyer at Albany Medical Center in Albany before retiring from the offices of Standard Manufacturing in Troy.

Sharon was one of a kind and exuded unconditional love. She was a force to be reckoned with and will be remembered for her unbelievable strength and fierce determination. She was an avid reader, gardener and quilter who also took significant pride in her award winning penmanship. Sharon, our Matriarch, was enthralled with genealogy and loved being the family historian. She had great admiration for the Amish and anything they created. Sharon appreciated long drives while enjoying the scenery. While she truly enjoyed annual family vacations to North Truro on Cape Cod, above all else, Sharon’s favorite times, by far, were those spent anywhere with her adoring family.

Sharon is survived by her devoted children: Robert (Tammy) Plante of Palm Springs CA, Rachael Schroeder of Troy NY, Tara Schroeder of Cohoes NY and Cortney (Satonya) Schroeder of Schodack Landing NY; her treasured granddaughters: Ava Connelly, Olivia Connelly and Harper Schroeder; her siblings: Arnold (Sandra) Heffner, Darlene (James) Watson, Carolyn (late Robert Wilson) Hornick, Marilyn (Edward) McGrath, Debra (late Thomas) Gotham, John Hornick, Jr., and Kevin (Geraldine) Hornick; many in-laws; a plethora of cherished nieces and nephews; and many cousins.  She was predeceased by her brothers: Albert M. (Christina) Hornick, Jr. and William R. (late Sharon) Hornick.

The family would like to give a special thank you to Sharon’s remarkable and cherished sister and brother-in-law, Darlene and Jim Watson, who have always gone above and beyond, and can not ever be thanked enough for their never ending support, loyalty, devotion and unconditional love.

The Schroeder family would also like to give a special thanks to The Community Hospice for their ongoing support, dedication and commitment.
