Obituary of Sharyn Elizabeth Desroches (Abbey)

Sharyn Elizabeth Abbey Desroches, 76, of Oak Brook Commons and previously of the Mechanicville-Stillwater area died unexpectedly on Dec. 9, 2022 at her residence.  She was born in Troy, NY on Nov. 12, 1946 and was the daughter of the late Winslow J. and Alberta J. MacMurray Abbey.   Sharyn was a 1964 graduate of Stillwater Central High School.    She was employed by the NYS Dept. of Agriculture & Markets serving from 1964 – 1969.  She then worked for SUNY Albany until her retirement on Nov. 12, 2002. 

Survivors include her son & daughter -in-law, Jeffrey B. & Dorothy Fainette Rhine Desroches of Maryland; grandchildren, Madison and Ryan Desroches; brother and sister -in-law, Raymond W. & Dawn Pohl Stephenson Abbey; sister & brother -in-law Helen M. and Russell K. Fitch of Winchester, VA; also survived by several beloved cousins, nieces and nephews.  Sharyn enjoyed reading, sewing, crocheting and traveling.  She was a lifelong member of the Mechanicville United Methodist Church.

Memorial service will be held on Wednesday Dec. 28, 2022 at 11:00 am in the Gordon C. Emerick Funeral Home, 1550 Rt. 9 Clifton Park, NY 12065.  Interment will be private.
