Some wonderful memories: one of the first people I met at OFPC was Al and he took me under his wing as a trainee. Al and I were deployed to the Long Island wildfires and Walton floods - Al was so organized and I learn in a practical way to keep tract of resources. Though out the years I had so many good times with Al. Robin and I enjoyed our times with him and Denise. Of course the night we spent in the hospital was so emotional. Rest in peace my friend.

Denise, my condolences. Al was a great friend and employee when I was supervising the inspections program: 1st Saratoga Race Track inspection, 1st 4-wheel drive vehicle for the Office when Al had to inspect a Ranger station and fire tower in the Adirondacks.
I think a sip of brew in honor of a former firefighter is in order.

Al was a wonderful man who made the best mentor. Al and I spent a day at SUNY Albany as I did my rotations and he showed me the inspection process. I also remember spending the night in the old "War Room" at 41 State Street with Al as Hurricane Floyd made its way through the Capital District. He was a true gentleman and someone we all enjoyed being around. If we all followed his lead, the world would be a better place. Thank you Al for just being you. RIP Al job well done, we will take it from here and hope to maintain the high standards you set for us to follow.

I'm so very sorry to hear of Al's passing. My career at OFPC was greatly influenced by Al's professionalism, knowledge and compassion for our fire mission. He was also a true gentleman with a kind heart and soul. Even though we were in different bureaus, he in Fire Services and I in Arson, I always enjoyed when our assignments came together, especially those "North Country Assignments". One memory in particular always cherished involved driving halfway across the Adirondack's to meet Al at a fire scene at a Federal Facility. Once there I jokingly asked him "what had he gotten us involved in this time" we both laughed, grabbed our shovels and went to work digging out the fire scene to get to the facts of the fire which was the mission of the day.
My sincere condolences to Al's family and may many great memories bring some comfort during this difficult time.... God Bless

When I was a young Fire Protection Specialist Allen took me to Potsdam to inspect the college. We inspected all day then went fishing in the evening. Worked with him at emergencies over the years and he always knew someone where ever we went. He was a gentlemen and someone to look up to. Test in Peace brother.
