Robert James Fox, Jr. passed away at home surrounded by his family on March 31st, 2023 after a long illness. The oldest son of Robert James Fox, Sr. and Caroline Amari Fox, Robert was born in Queens, NY and earned a bachelor’s degree from SUNY Oswego and a master’s degree from Northwest Missouri State. He was instrumental in raising his six younger siblings following the unexpected passing of Robert Sr. in 1973. After traveling to England on a Fulbright fellowship, he taught high school and coached basketball in Saranac Lake, NY. He met his wife of 44 years, Linda Waldbillig, in nearby Tupper Lake, and they built their home there together.
Linda and Robert relocated to Ballston Lake with their young children and have lived there since. Robert taught mechanical drawing and drafting at Adirondack Community College and ran a small drafting business, Metro Technical Group, out of his home. After his retirement, he repaired and raced vintage motorcycles with Moto Giro, trained as a firefighter and EMT and served as the treasurer of the Jonesville Volunteer Fire Department, and traveled the world with Linda.
In addition to Linda, he is survived by his daughter Jessica (James Kramer) and son Brian, and three grandchildren, Leita, Henrietta, and John Robert Kramer. He is also survived by his six siblings: James Fox (Candace), Caroline Fox-Cox (David) , Patrice Fox (Dan), Linda Fox Smith, Andrew Fox (Paula) and Beth Fox-McManus (Kevin) . He is survived also by 14 nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend special thanks to Gene and Patti Bini for their friendship and aid in Robert’s last years, and thanks to Drs. Sunitha Sukumaran and Matthew Cunningham for the thorough and thoughtful care they provided.
A memorial will be held at Jonesville Volunteer Fire Station #1, 953 Main St., Clifton Park NY 12065 on Friday April 7 at 3:45 PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Rob’s name to the Jonesville Volunteer Fire Department, 953 Main Street, Jonesville, Clifton Park, NY 12065 or to Community Hospice of Saratoga, 179 Lawrence St. Saratoga Springs, NY 12866.
