Obituary of George E. Moore
George E. Moore (Sonny) age 91 died peacefully on April 25, 2023 at Baptist Health Nursing Home with his family by his side. He was a devoted and loving father and husband.
George was the son of George E. Moore and Anna VanNorden Moore who predeceased him. He resided in Pleasantdale and Waterford in his younger years before moving to Schaghticoke.
In addition to his loving wife Olive Bethel Moore, he is survived by his daughters: Terry Moore Raymond and Cathy Farrell, his sons: Donald J. Moore (Erin Cassavoy) and Mark Miranda. His step-children: Lynda DeBell, Cathy Hanzarck, Walter DeBell and Debbie Ryan. Grandchildren: Nicole Martinelli, Lilly Miranda, Michael Russell, Jason Russell and Allison Vandish, many great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
He is predeceased by Lillian Dorney Moore, his loving wife of 35 years, his sisters: Alice Mahar Torpey and Shirley Anderson and brother, Donald Moore (US Air Force).
George was employed for 40 years at Ford Motor Company in Green Island. His outstanding work ethic made him a role model to his children. He loved his home and took great pride in taking care of it.
He was a Korean War veteran and volunteer fireman for the Hoosick Valley Fire Department. He was an avid New York Yankees fan.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions “In memory of George E. Moore” be sent to: Hoosick Valley Rescue Squad, 1448 State Route 40, Schaghticoke, NY 12154.
A private burial will take place at the convenience of the family.
The funeral is under the Directions of the Morris-Stebbins-Miner & Sanvidge Funeral Home, Inc., 312 Hoosick Street, Troy, NY 12180.
