Obituary of John D. Marra

John D. Marra, 63 passed away on July 17, 2023 at Saratoga Hospital after a brief illness surrounded by his loving family. He was born on November 19, 1959 in Troy and was the son of the late John R. and Rita Gladys Cavotta Marra. John was a graduate of Mechanicville High School and SUNY Brockport.  He worked for New York State for over 35 years, retiring in January of 2022 as an Engineering Technician in Albany.  John loved sports, the NY Jets and the NY Rangers and he loved to ski.  He enjoyed being at home and caring for his yard and pool.  He had been a communicant of Assumption/St. Paul church in Mechanicville and recently attending the Ballston Spa United Methodist Church.  He was a longtime member of PEF with NYS.

He is the beloved husband of Rose Mary Quackenbush Marra; the devoted father of Christina Allison (Tiffany George) Marra and Jonathan Matthew (Reagan Kissane) Marra; brother of Marie (the late Terry) Gilmore, Palma A. (Donald) Card and Barbara Marra; he is also survived by his dog Dempsey and his grand pups, Maverick, Penny, Stella, Allocade and Jaxson; also survived by his nieces, nephews and grand nieces and grand nephews.

Calling hours will be from 4-7 pm Monday, July 24th, 2023 at the  Gordon C. Emerick funeral home in Clifton Park, NY.

 Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 25, 2023 at 11:00 am in the Gordon C. Emerick Funeral Home, 1550 Rt. 9 Clifton Park, NY 12065. Interment will be in Memory’s Garden, Colonie, NY.
