Obituary of Judith E. Berlin

Judith E. Berlin, 81, or “Judy” as she was affectionately known by many peacefully entered into eternal life surrounded by her son on Friday, December 29, 2023 at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady.

Born in Schenectady, NY, she was the daughter of the late Harold R. and Doris Y. Missimer Shirk and the beloved wife of the late Raymond Berlin. Judy was a graduate of the former Linton High School and continued her education at Union College, both in Schenectady.

Mrs. Berlin had been a Draftswoman for the State of NY and later became a Teacher’s Aide at Ichabod Crane School District in Valatie where she worked with Special Education students and took great joy following her retirement tutoring those with special needs.

She loved doing puzzles, Wordle, cross-stitch and trips to the ocean at Wells Beach, Maine.

She is survived by her devoted son Jason D. Berlin and was predeceased by her dear sister Cynthia “Cindy” Sillars.

Relatives and friends are invited to Calling Hours on Wednesday, January 10, 2024 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and to the Funeral Service at 5:00 p.m. both at the Gordon C. Emerick Funeral Home, 1550 RT-9, Clifton Park, NY 12065.

Spring interment will be held in the West Charlton Cemetery.

Jason would like to express his most sincere appreciation to Jamie LaGoy who provided Judith with exceptional care and friendship allowing her to continue to keep living independently for many years.
