George R. Maloney, 84, beloved husband of 62 years of Rita H. LaRose Maloney, peacefully entered into eternal life surrounded by his family on Friday, March 2, 2018.

Born in Troy, he was the son of the late Andrew and Catherine Behm Maloney and was a graduate of Lansingburgh High School, Class of 1952.

Mr. Maloney retired from Gardenway, Inc. in Troy, where he had been employed for over 25 years as a Materials Handler. He was previously employed as the Superintendent of Building and Grounds of the RPI Fieldhouse for 20 years and began employment out of high school at Wagar's Ice Cream.

He had also been involved at Lansingburgh Little League as a Manager and Coach and was very involved and instrumental in the development of the Lansingburgh Independent Baseball Complex where he managed, coached, did tasks on the grounds, served as a member on the Board of Directors and was proud to be able to lobby to get the league its first scoreboard which was donated by Pepsi.

George especially loved a good round of mini-golf with his favorite golf partner Rita.

Mr. Maloney touched many lives of the youth in the community with his involvement, some of whom which he was a mentor to. Along with his wife and children, the Maloney family took in many RPI hockey players during the holidays to celebrate as a part of their family, as the student-athletes couldn't return home to be with their own families.

He was an avid New York Mets fan and would never miss a game.

Mr. Maloney was a communicant of St. Augustine's Church in Lansingburgh.
