Obituary of Hilda M. Whitehouse

Hilda M. Whitehouse, 84, of Pleasantdale, entered into eternal life on Friday, October 21, 2016 at her residence. She was born in Hohenstadt March, Germany, and was the daughter of the late Johan and Maria Vorac Ondrouschek and the beloved wife of the late Alson L. Whitehouse who passed away on April 24, 1984. She was educated in Germany and moved to the United States as a young woman in 1966. Mrs. Whitehouse retired in 1995 from the New York State Department of Social Services in Albany. She had previously been a pediatric nurse in Germany. She was an active communicant of St. Augustine’s Church in Lansingburgh and a member of their Sacred Heart Sodality. She loved gardening and baking, especially her Christmas cookies. Devoted mother of Bettina (John) Morrissey of Halfmoon; sister of Erika Pohl of Germany and the late Frieda Eyerer and Josef Ondrouschenk and Alois Ondrouschenk; cherished grandmother of Matthew Morrissey of Waterford and Kevin Morrissey of Halfmoon; also survived by nieces and nephews. Funeral will be held Saturday Oct. 29, 2016 at 9:00 a.m. from St. Augustines’s Church in Lansingburgh where the mass of Christian burial will be celebrated. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the John J. Sanvidge Funeral Home, Inc., Corner of 115th Street and Fourth Avenue in Lansingburgh on Friday from 6-8 pm. Interment will be in the St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands, NY. Those desiring, may make memorial contributions to St. Augustine’s Church Heritage Fund or St. Augustine’s Church St. Vincent DePaul Society, 25-115th Street, Troy, New York 12182, in memory of Hilda M. Whitehouse.
