Obituary of Edward John Galati

Edward John Galati, 89 of Clifton Park died on Sunday August 19, 2018 at Saratoga Center for Rehab and Skilled Nursing in Ballston Spa.  He was born in Brooklyn, NY  on Feb. 19, 1929 and was the son of the late Philip and Helen Roache Galati.  Mr. Galati was honorably discharged as a S/Sgt. from the United States Air Force having served from 1950-1954 and  having earned 2 medals .  He was the beloved husband of Barbara Ann Lantry Galati, whom he married on July 14, 1956.  He retired from the Plumbers and Steamfitters Union 269 in Newburgh, NY where he had worked for most of his career. After retiring, Ed and Barbara settled in Venice, Florida where they spent 23 enjoyable years before moving back to New York for health reasons. He was a volunteer firefighter and a communicant of St. Edward the Confessor Church in Clifton Park.

He is the devoted father of James (Kelli) Galati, DDS, Michael (Ruth) Galati, Philip (Michelle) Galati, Edward (Caroline) Galati, Mary Jo (Roy) Bodnar and Patricia Galati; brother of Philip (Marguerite) Galati and the late Genevieve Kenny; and also survived by 13 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers a donation in his name can be made to Hospice.

A memorial mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am Friday at St. Edward the Confessor Church in Clifton Park.

There will be no calling hours.

Interment with full military honors will be in the Gerald BH Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville, NY on Friday at 12 noon.
