CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — Charmyne T. Keary died on January 17, 2019. The cause of death was cancer of the lung. Charmyne is survived by her husband Frank V. Keary of Chapel Hill; as well as her children, Brooks Blake (Laura), and Natascha Hunter (Nick); her brother Juan Torres (Connie); and stepchildren, Shannon Brinton (William) and Barbara Keary (Karriem). Also surviving are her several grandchildren. Charmyne was a talented artist of painting, jewelry both in design and execution, decorating and gardening. She was an equestrian and in her youth a university swimmer. Charmyne received a B.A. from the University of Puerto Rico. Born in Clewiston, Fla. she moved with her family to Cali, Colombia in South America where she went to school in both Spanish and English and later was a simultaneous translator. She also taught Spanish and English in schools around the world. She lived in Hong Kong, Manila and Caracas. She met Frank in the autumn of their lives and with whom she lived 13 blissful years until her untimely death. She was a member of the Ethical Humanist Society of the Triangle as well as several Spanish book clubs and garden clubs.

Viewing will be held on Saturday, January 26, 2019 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Morris-Stebbins-Miner & Sanvidge Funeral Home, 312 Hoosick St., Troy, NY 12180 followed by interment in Oakwood Cemetery, 186 Oakwood Ave, Troy, NY 12182 at 1:00 p.m.
