Obituary of Florence Janet Vadala Mazzeo

Please share a memory of Florence to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

On the morning of Jan.31 2019, Florence Janet Vadala passed away peacefully in her sleep with me David her only child cuddled up by her side.  Florence was born on Sept.4th 1925. Her father Joseph and her mother Minni Vadala had four children, Joe,Frank,Mary and my mother Florence who was the youngest. She had a very good upbringing and grew up in a house full of love in Lansingburgh. Her father was a fine man, a lifelong barber by trade and was well liked by all. Her mother was a beautiful women,a terrific cook and homemaker. They both taught Florence well and  together raised four beautiful children.

Florence went directly into the workforce after attending Lansingburgh High School. Her most rewarding job and the job she retired from was with the N.Y.S. Dept.of Health in Vital Records. It gave her much satisfaction to help and assist people literally trying to find out who they were and what their family history was.She was courteous, respectful and polite to everyone that she came in contact with. Florence was always willing to help where she felt help was needed. She gave to charities such as St.Judes,The Salvation Army, and the Humane Society

Florence loved to laugh and had a beautiful smile.I remember the times when our lifelong neighbor Marie would share funny stories over the phone with her. They both had a good sense of humor and it made me feel good to know that my mom had a good friend that she could relate with living next door.

I would also like to thank my mothers co-workers, Joan, Arlene, Grace, Dottie and Bob for the love and support that they shared with my mom.

They were one big happy family and it was always a pleasant experience when ever I stopped in to say hello.

Finally, I would like thank the love of my life Penny who has lived with my mom and I for the past six years. Thank you for your love and supportand allowing my mother to get to know you, your daughter Ashley, her husband Michael and their beautiful little boy Cooper.Cooper and Flo as he liked to call her had a lot of fun times together. He was the grandson that she dreamed of having. She was truly amazed by the genuine love he showed for her.I am so grateful that they were able to get to know one another.

Mom thank you so much. Thanks for not only being a loving caring Mother, but for also being my Father, my Sister and my best friend. I am so grateful for the times we were able to share together. We will never be apart cause you are always in my heart. I LOVE YOU and may God

Bless.Amen.

She is the beloved mother of David Mazzeo (Penny Pastula) of Troy; also survivied by several nieces and nephews.
