Mary J. O’Brien, 82, of Ocean Parkway in Brooklyn, NY died on Saturday March 30, 2019 at Saratoga Hospital in Saratoga Springs after a brief illness.  

She was born on Dec. 22, 1936 in Kiltyclogher, Co. Leitrim, Ireland and was the daughter of the late Eugene and Elizabeth McGowan McSharry.  Mary was educated in the Irish school system and came to the United States in 1970.  

She was the beloved wife of the late Francis O’Brien.  She retired in 1999 from Citi Bank on Wall Street in Manhattan, having worked for the bank for over 25 years.

She is the devoted mother of Bernadette (Gary Putman) O’Brien of Round Lake, NY and Caroline (William) Leaver of Brooklyn, with whom she resided.  She is the sister of Sean (Elizabeth) McSharry of Kiltyclogher, Co. Leitrim, Ireland and the late Bridget, Patrick and Eugene; sister-in-law of Agnes Chandler, Agnes McSharry, Mary McSharry, Agnes Zeffreys, Robert Puckhaber, Leo Broderick and the late James Herd, Ian Chandler, Lawrence O’Brien, Mary Puckhaber, Theresa Broderick and Helen Robinson; cherished grandmother of Brian, Jessica, Liam, Emma and Owen; cherished great grandmother of Maximus, Atticus and Logan Rose; also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Memorial mass will be on Monday April 8, 2019 at 11:00 am in Corpus Christi Church in Ushers, NY.

There will be no calling hours.
