Derek A. Douglas, 33, of Troy, passed away peacefully on Friday July 14, 2017 at St. Peter's Hospital with his loving family by his side.
Born in Troy, he is the son of Tammy and Lester Douglas III.
Derek was a true outdoorsman; he loved boating, fishing, and hunting. He was a member of the Early Engine Club of Schaghticoke and had a love of anything mechanical. Derek could fix anything and was always there to lend a hand to anyone who needed help. He will truly be missed by all of his friends, family and neighbors.
In addition to his parents, Derek is survived by his grandparents, Georgiana and Lloyd Proctor and Ruth and Lester Douglas Jr.; his siblings, Christina (Edward) Doughney, Sarah (Justin) Wojcik and Lester (Kara) Douglas IV; his niece, Abigail Douglas; and his nephews, Lester Douglas V, Jack Doughney and Martin Wojcik.
Those wishing to remember Derek in a special way may make memorial contributions in his name to The Early Engine Club of Schaghticoke, c/o Patty Crandall, 54 Grant Hollow Rd, Melrose, NY 12121.
A funeral service for Derek will be held on Thursday July 20th at 7:00 p.m. at the John J. Sanvidge Funeral Home, 565 Fourth Avenue (corner of 115th Street in Lansingburgh), Troy, NY 12182. Calling hours will be held prior to the service from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m.
